When choosing the correct size of goalie pants, it is crucial to account for the internal volume of the gear, where the internal circumference of the pants must be 20–25 cm larger than your actual waist circumference. This margin is essential for comfortably accommodating a bulky goalie jock and, more importantly, the bottom hem of the chest protector if you wear it tucked in. A looser fit also allows the pants to "float" on suspenders during butterfly transitions, ensuring no restriction on hip rotation or thigh movement.
